I've been waiting for this moment for two whole years now and since she announced it on August the 18th I honestly couldn't stop thinking about it, also because Taylor hasn't left us alone one minute, always teasing us with new songs (We got Shake It Off, Out of the Woods and Welcome to New York, plus the previews of Style and How You Get The Girl), lyrics and dropping hints on Tumblr.
To celebrate her new album I thought I would make a 1989 inspired nail art just like I did for RED in 2012. Here we go!
THUMB » This has been the hardest finger to paint (and the one who turned out the worst, I know) and it's obviously inspired by Taylor's seagull jumper on the cover of 1989. To make it I started creating a ombre effect with the nude and baby pink polish using a make up sponge, then with a dotting tool dipped into white polish I've tried to draw the seagulls and then refined them using black polish and a tiny nail art brush.
INDEX + PINKIE » Those were the easiest fingers and were inspired by the turquoise sequined jumper Taylor's wearing on the cover of Shake It Off. To achieve the glittery effect I've first painted my nails a dark green, then poured a mix of different size blue and green glitters over a fresh hand of top coat. Remember to do this over a box or something to avoid the mess!
MIDDLE » The middle finger was inspired by the Welcome To New York lyrics Taylor's posted on her Instagram and by the city skyline in general. I've first painted my nails two coats of the nude polish and then drew the skyline using the black polish and its brush, no other tools needed. If you want to walk the extra mile, though, you can always add details or even windows with a dotting tool.
RING » The nail art on my ring finger has been inspired by Out Of The Woods, being in fact a tree! First I've painted my nails two coats nude, then drew a vertical line with a tiny brush dipped in back polish and finally I've dotted my top coat around the line and the poured the same glitter mix I've used for my Shake It Off fingers over, to create the foliage.
Hope you enjoyed this slightly different post. I don't know if you remember but I used to feature loads of nail art on here before! Also, buy 1989 on iTunes if you fancy. I for one am super excited for it (Can you tell?) and even though it's gonna be a very different album from Taylor's previous ones I couldn't be happier. She's grown up, I've grown up, and I actually think her new songs suit my new self just as much as the Speak Now ones did with my 14 years old self (Gosh, it's already been four years?). I'm also so happy she's doing so good lately and, especially as coming from country she wasn't a very general radio artist before, every time I hear her music blasting in a shop I almost get a heart attack.
Taylor has been the artist I've sticked to the longest, with a six years relationship that's till going, years that haven't passed without me listing to one of her songs at least once a month. She's been with me though the best and the worst times and I'm still so proud of calling myself a Swiftie.
So today, at least from my pint of view, is for Taylor, to celebrate her new album, her new self and our old love story. Here's to you Tay Tay, and here's to me being 50 and still waiting for your new album to come out and wishing I looked like the beautiful 57 years old woman I know you'll be.
I love you.
