THREE TRICKS FOR » NOT REGRETTING THE CHOP (AND ANY HAIRCUT, REALLY!)

I said it before and I'll say it again: I don't miss my long hair. But being one who's regretted quite a few hairstyles (like that Lea Michele full fringe) I know how it feels when you just want to go back in time and stop those tremendous scissors. So here's a few hacks I've put together to avoid the crocodile tears, and a bad haircut!

» IMAGINE IT
Think about how that dress would look with your new haircut, tuck your hair into your shirt to fake a bob, try one of those online make overs, just really think about it. Nobody's chasing you and you really have all the time in the world to take such a big decision. When I cut my hair, I had pondered my choice for almost two months and already had my mind set on short mode, but I know that if I'd gone to the salone one month earlier, it would've been a very traumatizing experience for me.

» BE PREPARED
Part of the 'Imagine It' thing is to do a little research on your future hairstyle. How short you exactly want to go, how's your hair and how they'll react to the new cut, do you want layers, once it's cut, what hairstyles you want to wear? I think the fact that I knew, though just theoretically, what was expecting me made me feel a lot less anxious and got me looking for all the new coiffures I could've tried.

» HAIRCUT BUDDIES
I found having someone who's going through your same stage is very comforting, especially if said one is a SuperStar and has a team of hairdressers ready to make that mid length work. Having someone with your same haircut will provide you inspiration and support through those though 'growing out' times. Especially if you get a 'on trend' haircut, then, you shouldn't worry: everyone used to have ombre hair and once the thing passed, the chop became in style since everybody cut their hair to get rid of the blonde ends. So at one point, when they will all want to have long hair again, even the mid length will be in fashion. You're not alone.
