THE CHEAPEST - AND BEST - CLEANSING BALM YOU'LL EVER MEET
There was a time, a handful of months ago, where the it product in the beauty world wasn't even a beauty product.
Despite the fact you couldn't find it in the Sephora halls, it was so hyped up it was one of the things I wanted to pick up in New York, and after my first ever stroll through the hipster paradise that's Whole Foods, I finally became the proud owner of the most commented thing of 2014: Coconut Oil.
Truth is, once home I didn't really know what to do with it. My original thought was to use it for cooking, but then I realized I don't use that much oil anyway. Then there was this week I tried oil pulling... Gosh, grossest seven days of my life.
The other day, though, when I was determined to hit Sephora and bite into the oh-so-pricey Clinique Cleansing Balm, only to find out I had forgotten my wallet home, I decided to give coconut oil another chance, and use it t remove my makeup.
Honestly, I was surprised at how good it worked. It removed all the mascara and crazy amount of dark lipstick I was wearing effortlessly, and didn't sting my eyes at all. After a good wash, my skin felt nourished and clean, a sensation I haven't felt since my beloved Sephora Cleansing Cream has been discontinued. It did left a bit of a greasy film afterwards, but I used too much product (hey, you learn from your mistakes) and I usually go in with a bit of micellaire water after my cleanser anyway.
So, long story short, coconut oil is this beautiful balm that turns into oil thing which smells like Bounties and removes all the make up even better than The Body Shop Chamomille Cleansing Oil. If you add the fact that it is 100% natural and way cheaper that the other cleansing balms, I think it's safe to say it's a winner.
Plus, if you decant it into an empty pot, you will also avoid the are-you-a-hippy dirty looks from your friends / family.
