1D TURIN GETAWAY » DAY 2: THE CONCERT

post concert.
On the sixth of July I put my floral headband and my little black dress* on and went to see One Direction for the second time in my life.
I've already seen them for the Take Me Home Tour in Verona and to be honest that will always be my favorite. Maybe it was because it was their first concert in Italy, maybe it was because it was my first time seeing them live or attending a concert of a band I really liked, maybe it was because it was a more intimate show, but this one just didn't live up to it. To be fair I wasn't even as excited as I was for Verona, as you could tell by the fact that this time I dodged my 1D t-shirt and writing on my face for a simple lbd. It's just that for those kinda concerts you buy your tickets so long before you actually attend it and so the excitement lessens a bit.
Anyway, One Direction are always a pleasure to see live. I know not everyone would own them singing skills, but I've never heard anyone complaining about one of their shows, neither the parents that are forced there because of their daughters: everyone always has fun. They just know how to interact with the public, how to make it go crazy and how to rouse a laugh, so it's always a good time at their concerts.
Since we had parterre tickets we queued a lot (from 11 am) but we did have a blast. I don't mind queuing or waiting in this sort of situations because half of the fun it's in the atmosphere. I love meeting new people from all around the country and becoming their best friend in three seconds just because you like the same thing, it's my favorite thing about this kinda events.
Now onto the actual concert. I was really worried about not getting in in time for 5sos and I was admittedly more pumped up for them than for 1D. Thing is for the Take Me Home tour 5sos supported One Direction only on the American leg, so it was my first time seeing them live and I was really impressed. They are really good performers and made everyone dance to hits like Don't Stop or Good Girls, even the ones who have never heard about them, which is really difficult for supporters, especially if the band you're opening for is One Direction and fans are so impatient to see them they can't think about anything else. Moms were impressed too (I love hearing their opinions because it's hard to find people who don't know a band at its concert) especially about their musicians skills. Apart from that I was also very impressed by a Luke Hemmings in the flesh at a few metres from me and about how hot I can find a 17 years old boy (he's actually just five months younger than me, but still).
In case you were wondering they started with Eighteen and closed with She Looks So Perfect, singing also Don't Stop, Disconnected, Good Girls, Amnesia, Beside You and Heartbreak Girl and played covers of Katy Perry's Teenage Dream and The Romantic's What I Like About You. Oh, and Micheal's hair was green.
When it was finally time for One Direction to play it started pouring, which was quite annoying (especially because we've literally just recovered from the rain that surprised us while we were queuing) but also quite cool. It gave the whole concert a more extreme feel and I also liked the fact that the boys got soaked too because it made me feel like we were together on the same boat. What is more, it did gave Harry the possibility to tweet this, which is ok. Then it luckily stopped raining, but 1D decided it was wise to throw water at each other, so they kept being wet. Actually some of them *cough* Harry *cough* decided to spit water on fans too, and the creepiest thing was that they were actually super happy about that.
In terms of scenography, this gig was on another level compared to Verona's. There were fireworks, confetti and special effects, not to mention the screens behind the band or the liftable platform. Of course it was a Stadium Tour so they had to make it big, but this also meant they didn't really interacted with the public as much as they did in Verona, which is why I liked the latter better. There were a lot of people screaming even when the boys were just trying to talk, which made the already few 'talking moments' impossible to hear. It was a whole different story to the TMH tour in which they used to read tweets and do challenges on stage. This one was basically just singing, which made it end so so soon.
There still were a bit of highlights, though, like when all the stadium started screaming 'Pizza! Pizza!' and Harry and Niall (which are always the funniest on stage) listed all the words they knew in Italian -aka food and football players - like 'linguini, bolognese, rigatoni, Mario Balotelli and Andrea Pirlo' or when Liam tried to say 'I love you' in Italian but he got it wrong so Harry corrected him or also when Niall sang Singing in The Rain well, in the rain, or the whole stadium sang Viva La Vida with them, just like at the old X Factor's days.
If Verona was on the emotional side both for the public and for them, this was more of a funny concert.
FIY: they opened with Midnight Memories and Little Black Dress and continued singing (not in order) Diana, Don't Forget Where You Belong, Strong, Happily, Right Now, Through The Dark, Better Than Words, Why Don't We Go There, Alive, Live While We're Young, Kiss You, Little Things, C'mon C'mon, Rock Me, What Makes You Beautiful, One Thing and Moments. The last four songs they sang were: You & I, Story of My Life, Little White Lies and Best Song Ever, which closed the show together with fireworks and screams.
Also, Harry had his hair basically down to his shoulders as we could see when he took his freaking turban off at the end of the show and stood there with this long wet hair and a middle parting. He was wearing a horrible shirt, too.
One thing I didn't really like was the fact that there were so many parents who just killed the vibe: think about singing and screaming and then turning around and see there's people completely serious or, even worst, worried about their children getting hurt or God knows what. I mean, if you don't feel safe about going to that concert, then just don't go!
Anyway it was a really good and funny night, at the end of which I was soaked, with my make up smudged, a sore throat and my legs that could hardly move. But if you don't do those stuff when you're 18, then when will you?
