LUSH PHOENIX RISING REVIEW

Oh Autumn, with its rainy days and spicy smells. Will I ever get bored of it? Winter is coming, though, and I can't quite contain my excitement, so I thought I'd give a Autumn ephinomen a shot before we start with mistletoe and fairy lights (just typing this makes me all shaking with happiness).

Phoenix Rising was something I have had my eyes on for a while now. Glitter + cinnamon + mystical creatures? Yes, please. Now that I've tried it, though, I have conflicting opinions. First of all, it's quite a slow fizzer: I had to crumble it in my bath otherwise I would have taken ages to melt. Then, it is not glittery. I thought it had like a glitter heart inside or something, but nope, you can hardly detect a light shimmer and honestly I don't know where all the gold glitter has gone. To be fair, though, it did have been sitting in my Lush basket for a good.. almost three months, I think? So maybe this is to blame.

Now onto the good part: first, it smells divine. Definitely cinnamon, but once it melted I could also notice a quite vanill-ish undertone, which I love. Also, you should know by now that I love a good deep purple bath, so the fact that this turned my water into a cranberry juice color got a thumb up from me (the inside was green though, which didn't affect the color at all). Finally, my favorite part: it leaves buttery pink flakes that make your skin oh-so-soft. Think Butterball, pink edition.

The ballistic also has some real pieces of cinnamon in it (like actual sticks) which felt a bit odd once in the bath. It definitely earns the status of a good one to me, though I wished it was a little bit more sparkly. I think it's great for a Fall treat or for a super pampering regenerating bath, but at the end of the day, it's just a fancier / spicier version of my beloved Butterball, though a little more expensive (€4,95 vs €3,25).
