THE LITTLE GUIDE TO SPLURGING RIGHT

Hello folks! Sorry I've been MIA for the last week, but I was in the States! More on that later - maybe - now I just want to dive right into this little list I've made to guide you to splurging and spending money on worthy things. Of course those are just my opinions, but are based on personal experiences so if I told you it's not worth to spend 100€ on that bag Cher Lloyd was wearing once, believe me, I know my sh*t.

» MAKE UP
I think the thing with make up is that even when you splurge, you never really break the bank. I mean, 30 € for a lipstick is a lot, but honestly not even close to the 1000 bucks you could easily spend on a pair of shoes. This is why make up is the best thing to treat yourself to: without a crazy amount you can get yourself something from a famous designer, that looks good on your dressing table and that's gonna make you look beautiful, what's better? I think in this case lipsticks are the right choice as their packagings are the best and they're the most likely to get you compliments, and even a couple envious looks if you're reapplying them on the go. If instead you want something good, my rule is to splurge only if you're gonna own just one of that. For example, I have the Naked 3 palette, but I've been using it basically everyday since I got it and I don't own any other lose eyeshadow, same with my brand new Anastasia DipBrow Pomade, that's the only queen in my brow game. If you're splurging for quality I'd also recommend you to focus on make up brands, such as Nars or Mac, instead of designers, as in that case you will pay more for the brand and the packaging than for the actual product.
TLDR » If you want to treat yourself or if you're gonna own just that thing in their genre.

» SKINCARE
'Spending money on your skin will make you save on the make up to cover it up', that's 100% sure, but with skincare you get two very distant poles that go from a 5€ Garnier thing to a Eve Lom's 110€. The answer is the middle, as someone would say, so I love to go a little bit more spendy on the skincare, without reaching ridiculous levels - think Antipodes, Rituals or Origins. I feel like spending on skincare can also be justified because you can really restrict your routine: actually I think a moisturizer, a cleanser and a mask is everything you need, without all the faff of serums and thermal waters. Also remember that your routine should be quite constant and that changing your products all the time will very likely freak your skin out, so it's ok to splurge on a good moisturizer since you're gonna use it to the very end. Another case when I think it's fine to spend a lot of money on skincare, is when you have a very serious problem and you're sure that thing is gonna help you, like a good eye cream for super dry eyes or a special cleanser to cure acne, but GlamGlow and other crap? Just not worth it.
TLDR » When your skincare is neat and constant or if you're sure that product's gonna change your skin.

» CLOTHING
If you love fashion and shopping, then splurging on clothing is one of the worst thing you can do. I prefer 15 € jeans as I know next year I'm probably not gonna like them anymore. To me, splurging is Zara or Topshop or Asos because for clothing I just prefer quantity over quality. Hello consumism.
TLDR » Never, if you're a fashion victim.

» SHOES
I can still hear my father talking about how important is to have a good pair of shoes or your feet are gonna be ruined forever, and I agree, kinda. I do feel like a good pair of black boots that I'm gonna be wearing every day for a whole winter are worth that extra penny, but for high heels or occasional wear shoes I'm the same as with my clothes. For example, I really wanted a pair of white Birkenstock this year, but since I was hating them til last month I bought a fake pair which were much cheaper.
On trainers you don't have to save, though, as doing sports with the wrong pair of shoes can really hurt you and vanish your efforts to build muscles or lose weight. What is more, trainers don't really change through the years so you know a good pair of Nikes it's an investment that's gonna get you through many work out sessions.
TLDR » For a everyday pair and for trainers.

» NAIL POLISHES
I used to prefer quantity here as well (hence why I have thirty nail polishes) but this was before I tried a Essie one. Now that I know how good a nail polish formula can be and that I've seen myself reaching for that grey bottle over and over again just because I knew that was gonna give me an effortless application I've changed my mind. Now I'm slowly rebuilding my collection choosing classic colors that I'm really in love with to create a nice and little stash, because in the end, I don't need 5 different shades of orange, do I?
TLDR » Always, to create a nice and small collection of polishes with nice colors and good
formulas.

» UNDERWEAR
I'm not gonna lie, I have tons of panties, and, I'm not gonna lie, most of them have cats on them. Growing up I've noticed that wearing cheap and worn underwear makes me feel like having my legs not shaved or chipped polish on my toes: uncomfortable and slightly insicure. This is why I think that investing in something like 3 or 4 good bras that actually look good on you and makes you feel darn sexy and a couple pairs of knickers to go with each one, so that you finally have that matchy set you thought only movie actresses could put together, is a good thing to do. My suggestion would be to have at least one black, one white and one nude lingerie set, plus a funny cheeky one to feel a bit more interesting once in a while. And now no one's gonna fear a doctor visit anymore...
TLDR » Always, on four of five nice sets that are gonna make you feel like a damn woman.

» HAIR PRODUCTS
They come and go like lovers, so my pick will be in the middle again (hello Toni&Guy and Tigi). I like spending more especially on styling products because honestly I've never noticed a big difference in shampoos and conditioners. Does that mean that I've never dreamt about Bumble&Bumble Surf Spray or Oribe Dry Texturising Spray? Well, that's another story...
TLDR » The price can go a bit up on styling products, but never reaching Oribe's highs: it's just hair!
