CHEAP & CHIC » DIY PEDICURE
I'm a firm believer in what I call the 'Cinderella Philosophy': a nice pair of shoes can change your life.
This means that I'm always up for a stiletto and, whereas I know SJP would be proud of me, my feet are not the biggest fans of my way of life. That's the reason every now and then I need to treat them a bit, but I think spending 20€ on a pedicure is just ridiculous, so here is how I show a bit of TLC to my tootsies without breaking the bank.
» SOAK'EM GOOD
We all know what the main problem with feet is: they smell. So start off by filling up a bowl with hot water and add your favorite body wash in there, or, like I did, you can be all professional and use proper feet soak salt. Mine is from the Body Shop, smells like peppermint and was like 1€ because I got it in the sale.
» RUB & POLISH
Now that your feet are all clean, it's time to exfoliate and remove every little nasty thing that those red pumps gave you. I use that square thing that you can see in the picture above. I really don't know what it's called but you can find it in your local pharmacy for sure. Give your feet a good rub with that thing and they'll be all soft and pretty.
» MOISTURIZE
For this step I use Lush Ultrabalm (btw have you seen how cool is their new website?). It smells and look awful but it does its job moisturizing and softing those heels and make 'em look like you never wore a pair of decolletés before!
» GIVE YOUR TOES A BIT O LOVIN'
As your waiting for the balm to sink in you can dedicate to your toes. Shape'em and file'em as you would do with your nails, then paint them with a pretty nail polish. I love wearing bright colors on my feet especially when no one can see them: it makes me feel all sophisticated, like I have a little chic secret or I'm wearing a very special lingerie. This is why I use Maybelline New York Color Show in Urban Coral, I swear that color has never left my feet since last summer!
» CREAM & SOCKS
Now your feet are clean, exfoliated, soft and with a beautiful color on the toes, you're almost done. All you have to do is slap some foot cream on (I'm using Heel Genius from Soap&Glory but tbh I think every hand cream will do perfectly) and pop on a pair of fuzzy socks that will let the cream sink in and keep your feet warm.
Now you can make yourself a sandwich, catch up with your favorite TV series and start thinking about what you'll buy with that 20€ you've just saved.

Yes! It smells quite funky though :/
DeleteI really ought to do this, but I'm so lazy! I don't really like the smell of many things from Lush, so kinda just go with it now xx Rebecca - UK fashion blog
ReplyDeleteYou can do it while watching tv or surfing the net :) it's really all about getting it into your routine
