MELLARKING » 30 SECONDS TO MARS CAKE
Let me start this post talking about how genius the name of this cake is.
It's quick, it takes only three ingredients and one of them is Mars bars.
30 seconds to Mars.
I'll just let it sink in for a second.
Ok, maybe I shouldn't been saying that as I was the one to come up with the name, but still. I bet you already know this recipe, if you don't, where have you been? I remember it being a staple in any garden party when I was little and I remember filling my mouth with that delicious stuff and running away from my mum to don't let her see it.
Now, ten years later, nothing has changed. I still love this cake and I still hide from my mum so she can't tell me to stop eating it.
It's definitely not the healthier recipe ever, but everyone needs a little treat every now and then. This was actually my waving goodbye to chocolate as I'm trying to give it up for the whole month of March - yes, I'm crazy.
Anyway I'll stop rambling now and move on the recipe itself, that's basically the easiest thing ever.
What you'll need »
- 80g butter
- 7 Mars bars
- 200g Rice Krispies
Here's how »
- Melt the butter and the chocolate together in a large pan, and be aware that I wrote melt, not burn (which is something I always do)
- Once the ingredients have melted, pour the mixture in a bowl and mix it together with the Rice Krispies. You should try to do it in the smaller time you can as the caramel solidifies quite quickly.
- Now put your 'thing' in a baking pan and let it rest overnight. If you are the impatient type you can leave it in the fridge for 1 h instead.
And it's easy as that! No baking needed, no whizzing or stiring till your arm comes off, but I promise you that this is ao good it will take you to Mars in 30 sec.
See, I did it again.
What a clever cat I am.
