CHAI SYRUP + THE QUICKEST CHAI LATTE EVER

It's that time of the year again when Chai Lattes recipes start popping up everywhere, though luck they're usually so expensive (cinnamon sticks aren't cheap) or so time consuming that Starbucks still looks like the best option. I've tried Estée's one, loved it and wondered if there was a way to make this whole thing a little quicker. Then I remembered my Pink Lemonade recipe, and something clicked: Chai Syrup.

This may not sound exciting to you but it will enable to you make your own Chai Latte in under 2 minutes. Which means Chai Latte for breakfast, or when you're running late, or when you're in a CBA mood. Yup, this is what dreams are made of.

What you'll need »
  • 587,5 g water
  • 200g white sugar
  • 3 tablespoon of loose Chai tea (or you can rip teabags open, I guess)

Here's how »
  1. Combine water, sugar and Chai in a pot, then put in on the stove until it boils.
  2. Now reduce the heat and let it simmer for five minutes.
  3. Turn off the heat, cover and let it rest for at least a hour. The more you let it rest the stronger the flavor will be.
  4. Filter your syrup and put it in a nice bottle, then store it in the fridge until it runs out.
Here we go! Now you have your Chai syrup, can you smell the spicy goodness? Time to make your own Chai Latte!

Here's how »
  1. You can either have a classic Chai Latte or a caffeine free version, if you use only milk with no coffee.
  2. Add your Chai syrup. I usually go for 1 teaspoon as it puts off quite a strong flavor but you can adjust it for your likings.
  3. Now have fun! You want it hot? Pop it in the microwave. You want it cold? Add a couple of ice cubes. Want some more flavor? Add a few drops of vanilla extract, it's up to you!
I love using the syrup as a sweetener in my tea as well, especially if it's vanilla flavored. Now go and make a big batch of Chai syrup, and yes, I already know I'm a genius, thank you.
